News
4-9-10: Two papers out.
Endangerment and Phylogeny DOI: 10.1111/j.1523-1739.2010.01498.x
Barnacles doi:10.3354/meps08504
2-26-10: Two new papers worth reading. The first on the population genetics of the Pgi gene evolving under balancing selection in Melitaea cinxia. The second on the evolution of arthropods - insects are terrestrial crustaceans. || doi:10.1093/molbev/msp227 || doi:10.1038/nature08742
1-28-10: Barnacle genetics. I hadn't seen this paper until recently. || doi:10.1111/j.1365-294X.2008.03907.x
10-30-09: Two NRG papers worth reading. One on the nature of inbreeding, the other on the always fun question of human evolution. || doi:10.1038/nrg2664 || doi:10.1038/nrg2632
10-27-09: Cricket Hybrids. || DOI: 10.1111/j.1558-5646.2009.00767.x
9-30-09: The new school year is upon us. Which means that it is fellowship season. Also, my Conservation Biology paper on phylogenetic comparative methods and endangerment is in review. Please keep your fingers crossed.
9-30-09: Review of fish genomics. Emphasis on some great Fundulus work. h/t Dr. Diane Nacci || doi:10.1111/j.1365-294X.2009.04272.x
08-30-09: Fast X effects and the variance in reproductive success. An interesting theoretical work up of Ne for the X chromosome || doi:10.1111/j.1558-5646.2009.00719.x
08-20-09: Heredity report on molecular evolution in tomato landraces. Pyrosequencing will make estimation of multi-locus sequence evolution parameters much more common very soon || doi:10.1038/hdy.2009.58.
08-18-09: Holsinger and Weir on F-statistics. I think Fst distribution methods for detecting selection are underused in current work. For species that are not genome enabled they are really the only way to do reverse ecology. This is a good review on the state of F-statistics || doi:10.1038/nrg2611.
08-17-09: patrickflight.net is launched. I hope to use this site to keep you updated about progress with my research. I will also post general interest evolutionary biology and population genetic papers that I think are cool.
